Supporting pharmaceutical leaders like GSKDownload the case study

As GSK continues to strengthen its vaccine manufacturing capabilities across Europe and invest in facility expansion, scalable water treatment solutions that can grow alongside production needs become critical. This case study demonstrates how a flexible, long-term partnership approach can support capacity expansion while maintaining the highest quality standards and advancing sustainability objectives.
A multinational pharmaceutical manufacturer at its vaccine manufacturing site in Belgium needed to expand its purified water capacity to support significant investment in increasing the facility's capabilities. The site required pharmaceutical-grade water treatment solutions that met stringent quality standards while supporting sustainability goals and operational excellence.
Veolia has partnered with the manufacturer for over 10 years, supplying its multi-technology OrionTM water treatment solution specifically designed for pharmaceutical, healthcare and biotechnology clients. Since the initial project in 2013, the manufacturer has invested in 16 Orion-based treatment solutions, each tailored to a specific application. The skid-mounted OrionTM units include softening, reverse osmosis (RO) and continuous electrodeionisation (CEDI) with additional pre- and post-treatment steps such as UV and ultrafiltration. The units are fully heat-sanitisable at over 80°C without chemicals and feature automatic sanitisation functionality.
