## From SR27 priorities to real treatment challenges

SR27 creates a clear opportunity to modernise Scotland's water infrastructure, but successful delivery depends on practical solutions that work within real treatment environments. At a drinking water treatment plant in Scotland, peaks in raw water turbidity and colour were affecting the performance and throughput of the existing rapid gravity filters.

This reflects the type of challenge future investment programmes will need to address: improving resilience, protecting asset performance and selection technologies that can integrate effectively into existing sites.

## **Veolia's approach to resilient treatment upgrades**

Veolia supports municipal water teams by combining proven technologies with process design, project delivery and operational know-how. In this project, Veolia provided Actiflo high-rate clarification upstream of the existing filtration stage, supported by associated process systems including sludge thickening and dewatering.

The approach reflects the wider priorities behind SR27: reducing risk, improving treatment resilience and making better use of existing infrastructure through reliable, efficient and adaptable solutions.
