How do you support sustainability goals?
Modern mobile systems feature energy-efficient designs, and right-sized temporary solutions often have lower overall carbon footprints than oversized permanent installations. We provide carbon footprint reporting for your sustainability disclosures.
What happens at the end of the rental period?
We provide coordinated transition planning, whether that's extending the rental, transitioning to permanent systems, or demobilisation. All transitions are planned to ensure zero disruption to operations.
How many mobile units will I typically need?
Over 80% of our mobile water deployments are single unit deployments – a single trailer, container, or skid of the right size, with ancillaries as needed (pump skids, tanks, chemical dosing etc.) supplied from our mobile water fleet.
 
For higher flow rates or multi-step treatment processes, we would supply two or three units, in parallel or in series – there's not much added complexity as the units are equipped with control integration to allow them to function as a single plant.
 
There's no practical upper limit – we've successfully commissioned big projects with over 15 mobile water containers working in parallel.
 
We continuously adapt our fleet to reduce deployment time and complexity – integrating multiple process steps in a single container unit (e.g. ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis for water reuse; RO and electrodeionisation for high purity water production) and increase production flow rates, so that most of our customers' site needs can be fulfilled with a single unit.
What is the typical plot area required for a temporary mobile water treatment system?

Most of our mobile water fleet are trailer or container units, in a standard 40′ ISO container size (12.2m L × 2.5m W × 2.2m H).

The unit will typically need 1.5m of clearance on all sides and good access for trailer truck or crane.

Smaller skids (e.g. pumps, tanks, ion exchange vessels) are usually smaller than 2.5m × 2.5m and can be moved with a standard forklift.

Our dedicated mobile water design & proposal engineers are familiar with all sorts of local site conditions and, where needed, will create a site-specific layout diagram to optimise the use of available space and accelerate our commissioning activities. 

What are the utility requirements for mobile water treatment systems?
For most of our mobile water deployments: feed water and product water connections + an approved site drain. We will supply pumps and break tanks if needed. Gravity drain (e.g. floor-level process drains) are preferred.
 
Electricity supply ranges from standard industrial 110V/230V connections for our dual-voltage ion exchange trailers, to wired in 3-phase 415V power supplies for high pressure reverse osmosis units.
 
Generators can be used in areas where local power isn't readily available.
 
Compressed air supply isn't usually required and chemical dosing is either integrated within our units or from dedicated, suitably sized dosing skids.
What are the regeneration and chemical requirements for mobile water treatment systems?
Our mobile ion exchange trailers and skids do not require chemical regeneration on site.
 
This eliminates chemical handling and exposure hazards on site and allows very quick deployment, often producing pure water within an hour of arriving on site.
 
As the ion exchange resin naturally exhausts when producing pure deionised water, a trailer is exchanged for a fresh unit for continuity of supply, and the exhausted resin is regenerated at our dedicated Service Centres.
 
Alternatively, especially for longer deployments, our mobile EDI (electrodeionisation) units produce up to 100 m³/h of pure deionised water without any regeneration chemicals.
 
For applications other than ion exchange, chemical dosing is sometimes needed (e.g. for ultrafiltration feed water conditioning or reverse osmosis fouling protection) – this is always evaluated by our application engineers, and a suitable chemical delivery can be arranged from our specialty water treatment chemicals portfolio. Chemical dosing hardware is either integrated within our units or from dedicated, suitably sized dosing skids.
How much effluent is produced and how is it managed with a mobile water treatment system?
This depends on the chosen technology and typically ranges from near-zero waste (ion exchange units) through ≈5% feed water to drain (ultrafiltration, EDI etc.) to ≈25% feed water to drain for reverse osmosis (RO).
 
Improving our sustainability is absolutely crucial to Veolia mobile water activities; our design teams optimise each deployment for minimum wastewater generation, and our fleet innovations such as high recovery reverse osmosis, built-in water recycle streams, high resistance membranes etc. allow us to continuously reduce the amount of wastewater generated from our mobile water deployments.
What are the connection requirements for interfacing with the plant?
Our mobile water units are designed for a variety of applications and communication protocols – from taking a simple remote control start/stop signal to full SCADA integration via Ethernet or wirelessly.
 
In the vast majority of our deployments, all we need is a product tank level signal – that way, the mobile plant continuously adjusts to match site demand, control is synchronised between the main unit and ancillaries.
 
Our digital remote monitoring system for remote quality monitoring and reporting provides a complete overview of site performance easily accessible by authorised Veolia engineers and our Customers' staff.
